Scapula ou Scaevola ? : sur l’identité du maître de cavalerie de 362

Abstract : Based on a re-examination of the epigraphic and literary evidence, this article aims at revisiting the identity of the magister equitum of the year 362 BC. Countering the hypothesis suggested in 1997 by R. T. Ridley, we argue that the identification of the magister as Mucius Scaevola is very complicated, and that a reading Scapula is more acceptable.
