Venir étudier dans l'UE : quelles motivations, quels enjeux pour des doctorants des Pays-Tiers ? Étude de cas à partir du programme de doctorat ERASMUS MUNDUS

Abstract : The paper contributes to the analysis of international training mobility. It presents the motivations and challen-ges that have motivated doctoral candidates from third countries to apply for an Erasmus Mundus doctorate, enabling them to conduct this training at and through research in a European university. This programme aimed to attract very good third-country students to the European Union, seeking to counterbalance the North American influence in the field of training and research. It also illustrated the European desire to spread its higher education model throughout the world. After setting the framework of the research, the paper presents the three categories of motivation of third-country students to apply to an Erasmus Mundus doctorate: leaving their country of origin ; entering the European continent, and specifically integrating this programme
